The Destrehan Plantation is the oldest, authenticated major structure in the lower Mississippi Valley. Built in 1787, its first major construction phase shows prime eighteenth century architectural splendor. In 1792, the manor changed ownership and was inherited by the family. Situated on four acres and restored by the River Road Society, Destrehan boasts double parlors, a grand stairway, antiques and lush landscaping.
